Islamabad, Oct 14: Pakistan Railway has dismissed and penalized over 97 officials for corruption in the last five years as part of efforts to combat the issue. Measures include implementing ticket vending machines and online ticket reservations to prevent black marketing. A task team has been established to monitor employee activities.

Additionally, ticketless campaigns are being conducted daily by Special Ticket Examiners to penalize fare evaders. Pension payments are now made via online banking to facilitate pensioners and eliminate fraudulent claims. Auctions are handled by an authorized committee with clear deposit protocols.

Monthly sessions, including E-Kacheri and Khuli Kacheri, address complaints from staff and the public. Vigilance offices have been set up to investigate corruption and resolve grievances. Regular meetings focus on employee performance and discipline, with designated personnel from each department ensuring timely complaint resolution through the Prime Minister’s Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU).
